In my opinion, kids in school should not get paid for good grades. If you are getting paid for good grades, your expectations will be, “If I get an “A” on this test, I will get five bucks!” Also it would make you spoiled if you get paid for something you’re expected to do. Plus, your wasting your parents’ money on something you don’t deserve!
If you got paid for good grades, it would make you spoiled for many reasons. When you go to school the next day after you get five dollars or something like that, and you show all of your friends, they are going to think you are a spoiled brat, because they don’t get paid, and they still get good grades. Also when you are getting paid for something, it should be because you worked hard to get it, or you helped out doing yard work. NOT for getting an “A”.
When you have an expectation for a test, it shouldn’t be “YES! If I get an “A” on this test, I will get five bucks.” It should be, “If I get an “A” on this test my parents will be so proud of me, also my teacher.” It’s not always good to be greedy either. Most kids who get paid don’t realize that their parents are giving them their own money; it’s not just coming from an imaginary bank or something.
When I say that it is wasting your parents’ money, and then you’re thinking, “Well, I don’t spend my money right away.” That’s not what I’m talking about. I am saying your parents could be using the money they give you to save up for something they want, because they earned it. Not you. Maybe instead of being greedy and taking their money you could say, ”Mom you can keep that to save up for something you want.” Or, ”Dad you can keep that to save up for that beach house you wanted.” You will feel a lot better about yourself too. When you are giving instead of taking, you feel conceited and arrogant.
All in all, I don’t believe it is a good idea to be paid for good grades. Some of my friends get paid, but that is their parents’ decision. I know I won’t pay my child for getting good grades, because that is my expectation for them. I will give them a good pat on the back, and hope their teacher does too!

Lauren, you should take a look around at today’s youth and tell me if they don’t need monetary motivation to get good grades. In today’s world money rules everything and if kids don’t see that good grades will ensure the stability of a higher paying job then they will not be motivated to get them. You obviuosly live in a bubble, because I would never pay my kids to do chores around the house. That is part of being in a family and taking care of each other and I don’t get paid to be thier mother. I do however get paid because I made straight A’s in college.

Students don’t pay attention to subjects, they do bad on tests, have bad grades and when they’re older they don’t have a job.
let me tell you hear lauren, i happen to be a student at newport middle high school and this school sucks and its hard to find a job around here and i want to get paid for my good grades…

but then they would only be motivated to come to school or study because of bribes that may never teach them to study for the sake of knowledge, price

I disagree to because i think everyone need help in one or two subjects, and if we don’t get it why cant the people who do help us instead of bragging all the time. Another reason why i disagree is because i think everyone is equally, so if they get paid we should at least get paid for trying. that’s why i disagree like everyone else.

I disagree with the idea of students getting paid because the only reason they are coming to school now is because of the money, For instance, if a person got straight Fs and come back with straight As, they doing that just to get paid. If they get an F they deserve that F and beside, u need to learn your education in order to get a job, u cant count on school forever.

I think students should not get paid for good grades because they will not appreciate it when they get A’s and they will be mortified if they get a B,C,D, or F. Also, getting an A is a reward itself. you should be proud of getting an A, not just always get paid money. On the one hand…
Proponents argue that paying a child for grades, good behavior, or other accomplishments is no different than adults being paid to perform their daily jobs. Thus, paying kids for performance prepares them for the “real world” where you have to work for your rewards.
On the other hand…
Detractors argue that kids shouldn’t be paid to what they should be doing anyway. Thus, while kids should be encouraged to do their best, they shouldn’t be taught to expect a reward for simply doing what’s expected of them.
Students should not be paid money for the things that they SHOULD be doing. You SHOULD be getting A’s right now.
Plus, when you get the money, in your head, you think “Oh, I got the money for that A. I’m going to slack off now because I already got the money.”

Anyways, (I don’t have enough time to write this.) students should NOT get paid for getting good grades

I think students should get paid for two things one it will give them more of a responsibility and a desire to work harder toward something that they want, just like their parents. They went out after something they really wanted and the got it. So now their kids have that opportunity to do the very same thing except its for school…who said its never to early to start.

Kids should get paid for their becuz: 1. It helps alot of kids pass more in their classes, 2. They can save their money for when they become a responsible adult, 3. They won’t have to steal anymore, and focus on their education, and 4. cuz i said so
i think that kids should get paid…im getting paid 1 dollar for each 4[my school uses numbers 1-4]i get so its not really neough to make me spoiled…plus 4 is EXCEEDING the standard not doing average so yeah

i think kids should not get paid. im 14 and slack off in school, but thats my own fault. i watch kids in my school that have straight a’s and are proud of it and dont get paid. you should want to get good grades to live a sicsessfull life. now that i have watched these kids care so much about getting in to college it has inspired me to do good in school. when i become older i want to be a music producer and thats my goal in life, and i will work for that because when i am older and have that job i will earn my own money. my parents earned there money. its my responcibility to get good grades now. so if you want to jerk off in school and fail thats your problem but getting paid is teaching you that every good thing you do some one will pay you. for example paris hilton. she has alot of money but is lacking knolege because now and days when kids get spoiled thats all they will ever know and rely on every one arroud them to praise them. KIDS SHOULD WANT GOOD GRADES TO GET IN TO A GOOD COLLEGE!

yeah but college costs MONEY, and grade school is FREE, scholarships are only paying for portions of our tuition..so students do not need to be payed with their own parents money! They should not be only motivated for money, and need to learn to appreciate school while it is still free.

NOT for getting an “A”.” It seems like Lauren doesn’t understand that getting an “A” is extremely hard work, personally, my parents would worship me if I got A’s in all my classes because it shows that I actually worked hard to get it , I would only get a “Thank you” from my parents if I did yard work, because I do it so regularly my parents don’t even have to tell me to do it. I honestly think parents would rather have their kids being motivated by money because all parents want their kids to succeed in life, nobody wants to see their kids grow up and live hard lives cause of the grades they got in high school.
Well they do say that there’s no salary for students in class, but the bottom line is that everything is all taken care of. e.g. Field trips; Athletic sports; Medical insurance; Playing an instrument; Designing.
So if students get paid for good grades, the schools would be bankrupt within two years. You don’t want a school (and/or the parents) to go bankrupt now would you?
i agree with lauren. kids cant go through life expecting to get rewarded for everything they do. they just need it to make them feel good and satisfied.
i think that kids should get paid because it would be better for the parent to pay the childs college funds and it would motivate them also. it help them to learn about saving and stuff.
Just because some kids might get paid for good grades, DOESN’T mean that they’re going around school the next day bragging like a “spoiled brat” to there friends. And if they get paid, then I really don’t think that the kids wont be smart enough to know that they AREN’T going to get rewarded for everything they do. Paying kids now could even make our futures better. Smarter kids, ready for jobs, and creating NEW jobs. Think about that.. Lauren.
Honestly, would you rather see the drop out rate for school increase? Even if they are getting paid for education, they’re still LEARNING. Something that most students are reluctant to do. I’m not saying High School students should get paid even anywhere close to what their parents make. Of course there would be rules to who gets the money and maybe it’s a lump sum paid at the end of the year? It’s still up in the air on that one. But wouldn’t you want your kids to say “Yeah, I learned it in school” rather than sit there and look stupid? You’re taking this in the wrong perspective. Sure the money is used as a sort of bait to make them get good grades. But that would require them to STUDY and actually DO WORK to GET that MONEY. Hence making smarter students. I was talking with some friends earlier about the potential problems that could rise up from the woodwork. Students turning lazy after they get the money or the amount of money paid to them isn’t enough to make them actually try. Of course there will still be kids that don’t care. But the problems can be ironed out later on when they come. I am 18 and about to graduate in a couple weeks. This wouldn’t even apply to me even if it does come into effect. Students should be paid to come to school. Period.

I disagree, students should get paid not by the parents , but by the school, teachers get paid, janitors ,principles so on so forth. So why shouldn’t we get paid for doing well in school? It is our “job” to learn isn’t it? So we should get paid. It will help us with our future. And another thing, its not being greedy if you want money, everyone wants it , we need it, so parents should give kids money for lunch or just as an allowance. A child is only as bad as their parents, reason being, they raise their child, no one else does. So Students should get paid for every good grade, because we cant go around searching for jobs when we already have so much on our plates, if being educated is our job then lets get paid. I doubt anyone would go to work if they didn’t get their checks.
i think that stident should get paid for getting good grades. it will help you in the future with college. it also motivate others to do well when they see you with 100 dollars.
